"Former Housing Authority Building" Clean-Up

Former Housing Authority building

In 2015 the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe was awarded a Brownfields Clean-Up Grant to clean up asbestos, lead and Polychlorinated Biphenyl (PCB’s) contamination at the “Former Housing Authority Building”, located at 633 Crazy Horse Street, Lower Brule South Dakota.  The grant also includes demolition of the building and removal of all materials to the 'Tri-County Landfill" located in Pukwana South Dakota.

The building was build in 1963 and is a single story brick veneer slab on grade building that is approximately 2,125 square feet in size.  The building was used by the Housing Authority and briefly by the Tribal Police.  The building has been abandoned since 2010.
